Count Me Out

Filed under: Karla, Travel — karlashaw @ 9:22 am

No MoreI’m reforming my ways and recycling all the bottles I’ve saved — no more throwing messages in bottles into the ocean for me! I’ve been following the daily exploits of the SEAPLEX expedition aboard the New Horizon research vessel, which is seeking the science of the garbage patch in the current of the north Pacific Ocean. It’s fascinating yet alarming. And while they are specifically studying plastics in the ocean, I don’t want to be part of the problem by adding glass to the pile either.

See what a “can” can do!

Filed under: Ely — karlashaw @ 3:53 pm

We collect empty pop cans for Habitat for Humanity so if you are coming Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. for ice cream sundaes to celebrate Ely’s 10th birthday, please raid your recycle bin and see “what a ‘can’ can do!” Or if you drink beer from a can, those work too — just no soup cans — aluminum only; no tin.

Filed under: Travel — karlashaw @ 9:55 am

Some of you know that for our vacations, we pick movie themes such as actors, topics, genres, etc. This week, we watched season one of 24 for our Shaw Family Film Fest.

Today is our last day at Seabrook…sigh…I do so love it here. We’ve been staying in Shell Cottage. This picture is from the Seabrook website. And while it may not have been quite this sunny, we did have some pretty decent weather for March on the coast!
